It
goes without saying that you will want to take a good camera
on your trip. The best ones for whale watching have zoom lenses.
For a 35mm film camera, a zoom lens of 80 to 200 mm is ideal.
A good quality color film rated at 100-200 ASA will be best
for most whale watching trips.
For
digital cameras, try to find one that has an 'optical' zoom
lens rather than a 'digital' one. Optical zoom will provide
much sharper quality.
For
video camcorders, consider buying a waterproof or weather
resistant case. The 'plastic bag' types will provide good
protection from seawater and salt air. Be sure to take a few
extra batteries - you'll be shooting more video than you think!
Our
camera shop has a good selection. You might even want to consider
a 'waterproof' or 'weatherproof' model if you are going one
a trip in an inflatable boat or kayak where there is a chance
of getting splashed.
