When I was looking up how to become a social worker online, I came across a sad story about a social worker in India who came across a massive whale carcass on Cola beach in Canacona.  Unfortunately, whales have washed up on Cola beach’s shores in increasing numbers in the last several years.

It made me wonder what causes whales to wash up on shore.  Obviously there are many reasons, including illness and rough weather, but an interesting theory caught my eye: earthquakes at sea.  As explained by Captain David Williams of DeafWhale.com, pods of seaquake-injured whales may wash up on shore if they are unable to recover from their injuries.  Captain Williams also believes that this phenomenon may be the cause of missing ships.

I encourage you to check out Captain Williams’ website for more information about the seaquake theory.  It’s fascinating!
