Petersburg Alaska has been recognized as the Humpback Whale capital of Alaska. During the summer months due to the abundance of feed in the area there is a very large gathering of Humpbacks through out the entire season. July and August are probably the best time to see them. The Orca or Killer Whale is a bit more elusive but they frequent the waters of Southeast as well. As a Coast Guard licensed captain I supply tours to see these gentle giants up close and personal. The cost is $165 per person for a six to eight hour trip. I run a 24ft. Olympic with a heated cabin and ample deck space for once in a lifetime photo opportunities. |
