A whale watching trip originating in Dana Point puts you the whale watcher closer to these beautiful giants of the seas the California Gray Whale. We have often stood on the cliffs above the harbor and watched the California Gray Whales pass by. But the real thrill is seeing them up close from a boat! The coastline off Southern California curves inward to the east at Point Conception giving the migratory whales calmer waters and better feeding grounds behind the Channel Islands. You can spot a pod of 45 foot whales crossing slowly up ahead of the boat. The captain gently turns to glide alongside the whales keeping far enough away not to interfere with their journey. |
